For Registrars

It’s time to choose where you will be nurturing and building your career and we would like you to consider our practice here in beautiful Killarney, Queensland.

We are an innovative, community run, not-for-profit organisation which is continually embracing change and better ways to do things.

We are not just a healthcare facility; we’re a community dedicated to excellence in patient care and professional development.

With an active patient list of around 3,500, we have three senior doctors who can act as mentors. One – Dr John Kiss – specialises in skin health and a second – Dr Catherine McDonald specialises in women’s health.

Here’s why you should consider joining our team:

1. Innovative Model of Care

Join us in our mission to provide exceptional care and make a meaningful impact on the health and well-being of the Killarney community. We are in the initial stages of implementing a healthcare program aimed at the overall health needs of people in Killarney and surrounds – addressing their physical, mental and social wellbeing.

This is being achieved with a grant from the Federal Government’s Innovative Model of Care program. If successful in Killarney, the program will be rolled out in similar small towns throughout Australia.

2. Collaborative Culture:

The medical team of doctors, nurses and staff collaborate to provide holistic care to our patients. The Innovative Model of Care program ensures each patient has an individual care plan which is contributed to by all.

3. Mentorship and Support:

As a registrar doctor, you’ll benefit from mentorship tailored to your individual needs. Our senior doctors are committed to guiding our registrar’s professional growth, discussing interesting or challenging cases, focusing on the diagnostic process, treatment, and outcomes, and ensuring confidentiality and ethical considerations are met. They will guide you through common and advanced procedures performed at the practice, highlighting the expertise and technology used.

4. Competitive Compensation and Benefits:

Your hard work deserves recognition. We offer competitive compensation packages and benefits; tax incentives because we are a not-for-profit; and free accommodation in one of our centre-owned houses.

5. Diverse Patient Population:

Experience the richness of practicing medicine in a diverse rural community. Our patient population encompasses a wide range of backgrounds and medical needs, providing you with invaluable exposure and experience.

6. Work-Life Balance:

We understand the importance of maintaining a healthy work-life balance. Enjoy flexible scheduling options and support; including for outside training needs; and then get out into the great outdoor and social lifestyle that Killarney offers.
