Appointments, Fees & Billing

Appointments can be made by contacting reception on 46644144, please ask for the practice and doctor whom you wish to see.  Although an appointment system is maintained, a few slots are kept open to allow for emergencies. If you walk in, you will be triaged and offered an appointment accordingly.  If you think you will require more time than usual with our doctors, please tell the receptionist when making the appointment so that a longer time can be arranged.  Please be aware when making appointments for procedures such as Cervical Screening testing, that if there are a number of other issues you wish to discuss you may need a longer appointment.

Dr Geisel is not available after hours except for the nursing homes under her care.  For emergencies, please call 000 for ambulance attendance.  For urgent problems that cannot wait for normal business hours there are several options.  Contact the Accident & Emergency Department at the Warwick Base Hospital, Locke St, Warwick 46603849, Toowoomba Base Hospital A&E Peachy St, Toowoomba 46166300 or the private Accident & Emergency Department of St Vincent’s Hospital, Scott St, Toowoomba 46904444

You can contact our doctors by phoning the surgery during normal opening hours.  The receptionist on duty will relay a message if the doctor is in consultation.  In an emergency your call can be put straight through.

Currently we are able to bulk bill the majority of our consultations.  Medical Examinations such as, but not limited to insurance, pre-employment and commercial driving medicals will attract fees as they are not billable through Medicare regardless of the patient’s age.

If you have any questions regarding any possible costs that you may incur, please talk to our receptionists.

A Health Assessment is an assessment of your health & well-being.  It is intended to inform your doctor and yourself about any risk factors and hazards that may require further health management.  If you are over 75 years of age or have a chronic disease, you are entitled to free assessments and reviews.  This applies regardless of whether you are in good health or not.  We will send you reminders when your next assessment is due, please inform us if you wish to be removed from our recall list

Along with our normal medical consultations we offer skin checks, skin excisions and cryotherapy, ante-natal care, Holter monitoring, ECG’s, adult & baby vaccinations, implanon in and out, CST checks, ear syringe, iron infusions, venesections, point of care INR checks, blood collections for our own patients and insurance, pre-employment and commercial driving medical examinations.

Home visits are available for regular patients who live in Killarney township and cannot attend the surgery due to their medical condition.  These must be planned and are usually around the lunch hour.

The Killarney Memorial Medical Centre has a recall system for clinically significant results and a reminder system where letters are sent for pap smears, vaccinations, health assessment and chronic disease checks.  These are generated automatically and posted unless the relevant patients request otherwise.

The Killarney Memorial Medical Centre is now offering the new service called My Health Record.  This is an electronic health summary that will travel with you.  Please speak to our receptionist about registering for this new service.  When you have registered, please make an appointment with your doctor to have your information entered on this new system if you would like to participate.
